For many of us university is our first taste of independent, grown-up life. Suddenly you're solely responsible for buying your own food (and working out how to cook it without giving yourself food poisoning), paying your own bills, ensuring your passport doesn't end up discarded on the bathroom floor of a dodgy night club that smells like mouldy cheese etc.
Seriously, adulting is hard you guys!
To ensure the transition from your parents' spare room to a home of your own (if one can honestly call a 4 square foot box with a wet-room a home of one's own) as easy and successful as possible, it's best to be prepared. For anything!
You'll be surprised how often even the most obscure objects come in handy while you're at university!
And, if nothing else, being the girl who had everything made it really easy to make friends in the first couple of weeks. Whenever my less prepared housemates needed a spatula or some safety pins, I could come to rescue. After all, nobody wants to traipse to Tesco halfway through pre-drinks because no one in the flat had the forethought to bring a corkscrew.
So, to make sure you have absolutely EVERYTHING you could possibly need for your big move to university, I have the ultimate check-list for you.
Documents:
Acceptance letter from the university
Student loan documents
Any housing documents/home insurance documents you may have
Bank account information
Medical information/prescription medication information
Hello everyone and welcome to November! Yes, I'm aware everyone else has been here for a while, but you know me. I'm never on time!
I've said it before and I'll say it again, October is my favourite month. I love the feeling of the crisp autumnal breeze and the crunching sound of fallen leaves beneath my feet. But most of all I love Halloween! The pumpkins, the black cats, the gruesome latex decapitated heads...good times!
I can't help feeling sad that October is over, but the one consolation is that it's time for Monthly Musings! Hooray!
Obsession of the month...
As I mentioned in my Halloween Goodies post, I have recently developed a huge (some might say ridiculous) obsession with scented candles. Up until this point I have always found the worldwide fascination with scented candles bizarre. I mean, realistically, you may as well just set fire to your money and sprinkle it with pot-pourri. Same basic principle.
But all of a sudden I find myself with some kind of scented candle shrine taking over half of my dressing table and I can't walk into Debenhams any more without sniffing all the candles in the home-wear department.
It's becoming a problem...
Accomplishment of the month...
Have I actually accomplished anything this month? Surely I must have done something within the last month that I can be proud of!
I mean, I would say I accomplished breaking in my new work shoes, but even that would be a lie because I got my mother to break them in for me.
I am really judging myself right now.
Thing I am most ashamed of this month...
The sheer amount of Milkybar Ghosts I ate. Repeat after me: Halloween is not an excuse to up your calorie intake by 4000%.
Book of the month...
You guessed it! I am still making my way through *Middlemarch! I've really been struggling to find time to sit down and read since I started my new job and, with another 500 odd pages left to go and my workload set to increase even more during the run-up to Christmas, I'm worried that I'll be reading this book for the rest of my life.
I am really starting to get into it though. I mean, I still have absolutely no idea where the plot is going (if anywhere), but I really feel for Dorothea and her disenchantment with grown up-life. I feel you girl!
I was drawn to Bunny's channel this month because she is just as much of a Halloween nut as I am. I was lured in by the Halloween makeup tutorials and "Follow Me Around a Halloween Store" videos and then proceeded to binge-watch her channel for the rest of the month. She is totally mental...and I love it!
Things ticked off The 2015 List...
Absolutely nothing. I'm close though! All I need to do if finish Middlemarch and I can cross off "read 12 more books from the BBC Good Reads list". But the way that's going, I could be waiting a long time for that small victory.
Next month I will aim to...
Start eating more fruit and veg. Like...one a day or something...

This weekend I'm going to my first ever cheer competition! I have a whole lot of feelings, but I'm not entirely sure which one I'm feeling most. Excited? Nervous? Achy from our last training session?
It's worth mentioning that Sunday's training session was our last chance to practise before the competition and we did more full-outs than I thought my body was physically capable of. (For those of you who aren't down with the lingo, a full-out is when you run through your routine, complete with every jump, every stunt and every tumble...full out.) It was like being hit in the face with a brick.
My arms are still hurting and I have a foot-shaped bruise on my right boob.
As the weekend draws closer, I am being plagued by an array of anxieties. What if I forget the dance? What count does that clap happen on? What if I get so overwhelmed by the stress that when I step onto the mat I blank out and forget everything...not just the routine, but everything like who I am and where I live? What if I forget to pack my lipstick?!
To alleviate some of the stress I've drafted up a check-list. I've tried to think up every possible scenario to ensure I'm prepared for anything from migraines to smudged mascara and anything else you could think of, short of a tsunami.
So I thought I'd share it with you guys in case any of you are going to your first competition too or in case you all just wanted to mock my obsessive compulsive need to pack everything.

Now that I've got everything set out in writing, I feel a lot less stressed. At least I know the recurring nightmare about me having to perform in my pants because I've forgotten my shorts won't come true.
My next concern is working out how to get my hair into one of those cheer poofs.
